Instagram can be the perfect place to draw heaps of inspiration, spark new ideas, and get motivated.
But it’s also the place where comparison thrives.
And if you’ve ever scrolled through your feed, you know how quickly it can turn from inspiration to insecurity.
Comparison really is the thief of joy.
I’ve been there myself, and still go there.
I’d scroll through my feed.
Seeing all these polished, picture perfect shots, and before I knew it, I was bringing my own work down.
I’d start hating everything I’d created, and everything I would create, because I’d feel like it could never compare to what’s out there.
And that feeling would stop me from creating.
It’s a dangerous cycle, isn’t it?
We forget that Instagram is a highlight reel.
For every perfect shot you see, there are thousands of not so perfect ones you don’t.
But that part is easy to overlook when you're consumed by the shiny perfection in front of you.
These days, I don’t use Instagram the same way.
Sure, I still use it to connect with people, to grow my brand, and to build my business.
But I’ve learned not to get lost doom scrolling.
I’ve stopped comparing my journey to someone else’s highlight reel.
You can only be better than the person you were yesterday. You can’t be better than someone else’s yesterday.
So, when you’re stuck in that comparison trap, remember this.
Your progress isn’t measured by how you stack up against others.
It’s about how far you've come since you first started.
We all have our own unique path, and sometimes, we need to stop comparing and start celebrating where we are right now.
I hope this helped or inspired you. Let’s keep growing and improving together 🎨
