Growing up, I didn’t have the latest phone, laptop, or console.
I had to make do with what I had, and looking back, I’m really glad I did.
It taught me an invaluable lesson:
To maximize the use what’s in front of you.
This mindset has played a huge role in how I’ve navigated my journey in photography without splurging on every new piece of gear that hits the market.
I’ve learned to push my camera to its limits, make the most out of my laptop, and invest wisely in tools that truly help me grow.
But let me tell you, learning how to edit?
That was a whole different story.
I’ve watched countless tutorials, trying to crack the code on making my photos look the way I wanted.
I used to binge watch every one of Peter McKinnon’s “2-Minute Tuesdays,” hoping to find that missing piece of the puzzle.
Still, I found myself struggling with my edits.
I’d see photographers online posting stunning images and constantly wondered, How?
How did they get their photos to look so polished?
What were they doing in their edits that I wasn’t?
Eventually, I decided to pull the trigger and invest in presets.
But here’s the thing, I’m not saying:
“Buy my presets, and you’ll learn the way I learned.”
I’m saying this:
Learn to make the most out of what you already have.
Sometimes, we get caught up looking for external solutions to problems that can be solved with the tools at our disposal.
Other times, we use the lack of gear as an excuse not to create.
So, I want you to ask yourself:
Do you really need that new laptop, phone, or the latest camera and lens?
Or do you have everything you need already, and you just need to go out there and start creating?
Take what you have, make the most of it, and let your creativity do the rest.
You’ve got this 👊🏻
I hope this helped or inspired you. Let’s keep growing and improving together 🎨
