I remember one time I drove down to the coast, totally convinced I was going to capture the perfect shot.
The location was beautiful, the lighting was just right, and in my head, I knew exactly how the photo would turn out.
I thought I had everything planned perfectly.
But when I got there, nothing went as expected. The shot I had imagined didn’t come together, and when I looked at the photos afterward, I wasn’t proud of any of them.
I felt like I had completely wasted my time, fuel and effort.
I was frustrated.
But after a while, I realised that the experience wasn’t a waste at all.
That “failed” attempt taught me exactly what I needed to change for the next time. So I went back, made adjustments, and ended up capturing one of my favourite shots.
It’s so easy to feel down when things don’t go the way you imagined.
I’ve been there...more times than I can count. But what I’ve learned over the years is that failure is essential. It’s how we grow.
Each mistake you make teaches you something valuable, even if it doesn’t feel like it in the moment.
The truth is...
No one gets it right all the time, and waiting for the perfect moment or the perfect shot only slows you down.
While you’re waiting, someone else is out there trying, failing, learning, and getting better with each attempt.
So the next time a photo doesn’t turn out how you hoped, don’t get discouraged.
"Done is always better than perfect"
Every "failure" is just a step toward improvement.
Remember, you’re doing great, and we’re all learning along the way.
